Shakespeare, Live and In-Person at MMT!

Ever-so-slowly and carefully, we’re moving back not the real world, the one we used to occupy before Covid-19 pulled not just the rug, but the whole floor from beneath us.

A few days ago, LindaK and I got to be part of a reduced crowd at Wasena Park to soak up Lee Hunsaker’s delightful Hoot and Holler and now, from May 8-16, Mill Mountain Theatre is coming alive—literally—again.

MMT will feature Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on the lawn at Heights Community Church in Grandin Village and the entrance fee will be whatever you think is appropriate.

The comedy will feature young actors from across the Roanoke Valley. There will be appropriate social distancing and mask-wearing practiced during the performance. This will be MMT’s first in-person show since early 2020. The theatre group has produced several online, live performances. “This is an important step for MMT as we move from virtual performances to outdoor in-person performances and eventually welcoming our patrons back inside the theatre,” says Producing Artistic Director Ginger Poole.

Those attending will need to take a blanket and chair. The location of the play is subject to change to the Trinkle Mainstage, depending on the weather. Check MMT’s social media pages for updates.
