Here is our home on the Maryland Eastern Shore for the next few days. |
A Few Days on the Eastern Shore
Crisfield, Mayland, is the very definition of "middle of nowhere," but don't take that as a smack at this charming crabbing village on the remote stretches of the east coast.
Linda Kay and I are here for a few days, looking for some light adventure as summer makes its debut tonight with a late sunset on the eastern seaboard. We managed to negotiate the twists and turns of Richmond and Norfolk to find the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel with its surprising $14 toll charge.
We rolled up the viewless Eastern Shore for nearly two hours, passing Chincoteague and Assateague, then turning and turning easterly until we landed in the front yard of our charming little rented house. The one that the neighbors must have taken before the county board because of its garish paint job (which LindaK and I adore).
It is absurdly inexpensive, owing to its isolation, I'd guess.
It is a charming little two-bedroom house with lovely touches throughout, two bedrooms and one OOPS! It would be that the lone bathroom is on the first floor and the bedrooms are both upstairs. I can't wait until my 2 a.m. pee comes up.We went downtown a bit ago to investigate and rustle up a little seafood dinner. We found this little diner called Water's Edge Cafe that had simply the best flounder I've ever eaten. The diner reminds me of Happy Days and the Andy Griffith Show. Happy place to eat.
We wandered around downtown Crisfield and I found some superb photo options, which you see. And we are just getting started. Next, the sunset (in the East?).
